Prerequisite: Medical students only.
Description
This program will pair senior level medical students having a strong interest in a pediatric career with experienced academicians and mentors having expertise in pediatric research. The in-depth mentored experience will provide the student with the opportunity to 1) develop a relationship with the mentor 2) develop skills in pediatric research methods, scientific oral and written presentation, and 3) enhance their pediatric career development. The program will assure that students receive advanced training beyond the usual expectations of 4th year medical education and will enable students to pursue advanced research opportunities. The student will perform a research project, attend monthly meetings for the course and present findings at Pediatric Grand Rounds during May of the 4th year, as well as having the encouragement to present at regional or national pediatric meetings. (If presenting at regional or national meetings, funds will be provided for travel to the meeting.)
