Description
This course is designed to build upon the patient counseling skills gained during the first and second years of pharmacy school and will prepare students to more effectively participate in direct patient care. Emphasis will be placed on practicing motivational interviewing skills to assist patients with positive health behavior change. These skills will be utilized when assisting patients with managing chronic diseases, overcoming addiction, and improving medication adherence. The majority of this course will consist of hands-on activities including small group discussions, role play, video recordings, and active reflection.
