Description
Woven throughout with the thread of ethical practice, this class will train the nonprofit board and staff on how the board gets down to the real business of oversight and governance: making policy, articulating the mission of the organization, and sustaining its vision. You'll learn how board members and staff work to create clear, precise and practical policy statements; delegate authority to the executive director or CEO; set up systems for self-governance; and oversee and assure financial sustainability of the organization. You'll also hear from guests presenting on specific topics, such as case studies on financial review, successful annual board fundraising efforts; writing and rewriting by-laws; executive evaluation; interaction between fund development staff and development committee, etc.
