This course will do five things. Students will learn conventional generation planning methods developed and applied in traditional regulated monopolies, based on the concept of revenue requirements. They will learn decision analysis for generation in modern competitive markets. They will learn the technical and economic characteristics of renewable resources, conservation, and new applications of electricity. They will apply the strategic planning (conflicting objectives) model to broad electricity-centered energy planning. They will study and understand energy planning by mixed professionals and the public at various levels of government.
