Course Detail
Course Components:
The lung is the organ responsible for human gas exchange required for, and produced by, metabolism and therefore the pulmonary physiology associated with these processes is of crucial importance during rest and exercise and with both health and disease. This course will provide students with an in-depth understanding of the complex structure and function of the lungs and the mechanisms responsible for gas transport and exchange in the periphery. Specifically, the mechanisms responsible for pulmonary function, gas transport, and the control of ventilation at rest and during exercise in health and disease will be integrated both in the classroom and in the laboratory.
