Prerequisites: One year of graduate study; a background in genetics and molecular biology. Students must have a laptop (preferably Macintosh). Some familiarity with Unix and R is useful.
Description
This course focuses on genetic mechanisms that impact neurodevelopmental and age-related brain disorders. Lectures will introduce concepts related to the genetic basis of neural diseases, innovative genomics and imaging technologies in the field, and the bench-to-bedside translational pipeline. Hands-on aspects of the course will cover genomics data mining methods to discover new disease mechanisms and therapeutic strategies.
