Description
This survey from roughly 600 BCE to 200 CE will focus on how the ancient Greeks and Romans viewed their art and architecture. We will address questions ranging from how the Athenians thought of their public works to why the Romans copied classical Greek and Hellenistic art. Utilizing ancient scholarship, subjects like collecting, connoisseurship, material, and color in art will be thoroughly explored and discussed in depth.
