Description
Open to all students. This course examines theatrical scripts and performances that provide unique, inside looks at the impact of U.S. politics on everyday life. These political plays depict individuals identified as part of a social group that receives unfair treatment based on generally accepted (and often unacknowledged) systems of laws, values, or ways of doing things. The systems may be legal, bureaucratic, ideological, nationalistic, religious, racial, gender-based, or the reflection of communal values. The plays and readings focus on recent U.S. events, or on historical instances that still have current relevance.
