Description
An overview of electromagnetism and statistical mechanics with emphasis on problem solving. The scope of the material roughly corresponds to the requirements of the GRE Physics Test. Topics include vector analysis, electrostatics in vacuum, Poisson/Laplace equations, electric field in matter, magnetostatics, magnetic fields in matter, electrodynamics (Maxwell equation and applications: electromagnetic waves, circuits), states of a system, temperature and entropy, partition functions and Boltzmann distribution, thermal radiation, ideal, Fermi, and Bose gases.
