Description
Unleash your inner scientist! Have you ever wondered why your hair is straight or curly, or what makes your eyes blue or brown? It's all in your genes! Come and learn about genetics using zebrafish and learn why these amazing animals make excellent models for human development. You will be the scientist and design your own experiment to determine what genes the adults have by examining their offspring. Track your research as you start your own science lab notebook, observe the beating heart of a developing larva, and extract your own DNA. Students will also take field trips to meet lab scientists at the University of Utah's zebrafish core facility, and see science in action! Co-sponsored with the U of U's Department of Pediatrics.
