Description
The first in a series of six clinical courses, this course introduces the Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner student to the diagnostic and psychotherapy role of the independent nurse practitioner. The student will apply evidence-based didactic knowledge and clinical skills under the supervision of faculty and a clinical preceptor. The focus on this semester is on beginning skills in mental health assessment, diagnosis, case formulation and treatment planning including provision of psychotherapy.
