Description
From The Outsiders to The Hunger Games, young adult literature has been hugely successful but what do these books have in common? What assumptions do they make, and ask us to make, about adolescent characters and readers? What sets these stories apart, and why are so many adults reading them? This course will examine a variety of young adult fiction from writers such as S. E. Hinton, Suzanne Collins, Sherman Alexie, and Sara Zarr.
