This course explores the uses of accounting information for internal planning, decision-making, strategic execution and performance evaluation. We focus on the two fundamental purposes of managerial-accounting in firms: 1) to facilitate value-based decision making; and 2) to incentivize and evaluate decision maker performance. The main objective is to equip students with the knowledge to understand, evaluate, and act upon the many financial and nonfinancial reports used in managing firms.
