PRTW 316 - 001 Paddle Boarding (SUP)


Attendance at the 1st class meeting is mandatory and will take place via Zoom. This class will be delivered electronically and we will not have any in-person classes. Drops not possible after the 2nd day following this meeting. Students will learn about board design, construction, repair, paddle shape, and other paddle boarding related features. Videos will focus on fundamental paddle boarding skills including, stance, balance, paddle techniques, stance transitions, how to fall, and associated water risk management skills. This will be accomplished through readings and video demonstrations. We will have a second zoom class where we will have a discussion regarding some of the readings as one of the assignments necessary for credit.

PRTW 340 - 001 Backcountry Yoga


Attendance at 1st class meeting is mandatory and via Zoom. This class will be delivered electronically and we will not have any in-person classes. Drops not possible after 2nd day following this meeting. This introductory class is designed for students to unplug, let go, and find their Zen in a nature-based setting focusing on forgetting about what comes next, making the connection between mind, body, soul, and nature. Students will discover different ways to more freely do this in nature by having a full sensory experience through sights, sounds, smells, etc. As this will be an online class, students will be encouraged to get outdoors as best they can to complete assignments. Students will also learn about LNT and making healthy living and lifestyle choices. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the necessary skills needed to enjoy entry level paddle boarding, as well as incorporating and practicing yoga both on land and on the water. We will have a second zoom class where we will practice yoga together virtually as one of the assignments necessary for credit.
