Description
Cultural Studies surveys the field of Cultural Studies from its roots in postwar Britain and the Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies at the University Birmingham to its expansion across the globe. Particular attention is paid to the field's migration across the Atlantic into North America and its subsequent integration into Communication in the form of Critical/Cultural Studies. Alongside this historical focus, students will explore the central theoretical concepts of Cultural Studies, including power, identity, political economy, media, communication, and culture.
