Prerequisites: Graduate status in Nursing OR Instructor Consent.
Description
Provides a basis for understanding the pharmacokinetics and actions of specific groups of drugs commonly used in advanced nursing practice. Emphasis placed on pharmacological action of drugs, side effects, appropriate dosing, drug interactions, and guidelines for use of drugs. Legal and ethical considerations of prescriptive practice also addressed. Students enrolled for 3 credits will receive additional instruction and work related to a particular patient population.
