Description
In this course students develop an individual body of work that is technically and aesthetically competent. This course explores a range of materials, scale, forms, and traditions, both perceptual and non-representational. Each student is expected to conduct a significant amount of their own research into areas of interest, as well as into the work and working practices of contemporary artists. Students discuss their research interests and the conceptual/aesthetic development of their artwork through a series of in-class discussions and critiques. Ongoing readings, discussions, and research on contemporary artists will assist students in the development of artist statements throughout the semester.
