Description
This course acquaints students with the basic concepts of work design and human capabilities as developed over the last century. Material handling exposures will be reviewed in depth. Industries with special challenges, such as healthcare industries, will be discussed. Students will gain an understanding of the concepts of basic risk factors such as force, posture and repetition. Students will learn to use peer-reviewed exposure assessment tools in a variety of settings through case studies. The frequency, costs and challenges in mitigation and treatment of workplace injuries will be reviewed.
