Description
The image of Africa hinges on a single story framed on biased reductionist and deficit representations of darkness and backwardness. This course through a Sankofa framework provides an interdisciplinary historical account of Africa before European colonialization to spotlight Africa's contribution to the world and the impact of the world on Africa. Topics in this course include Africa, Origins of Humanity, East Africa Nile Valley Civilizations, West African Empires and Kingdoms, and African Queens.
