Description
Content of this first of five seminar classes will support participation in a Level I fieldwork experience in a community setting where the focus will be observation and assessment of occupation. Ethics in the care provider role will be studied as an essential component of professional behavior and the process of ethical decision making practiced. Cultural diversity as related to occupational therapy practice will be explored in depth. Students will be introduced to potential OT roles in emerging practice areas. The promotion of occupational therapy will be addressed through a service project related to Occupational Therapy Month planned by student groups. Documentation will be introduced and practiced. Clinical reasoning skills will be developed through fieldwork assignments and guided experiences in class.
