Description
This is the second class in the series, "Great Artists Who Captured an Age," intended to examine great European artists whose life's works captured their times in history and whose art has had a powerful influence on Western art over time. This spring we will cover artists within 19th century Romanticism, Realism, Impressionism, and Post-Impressionism including Romantic painters Eugene Delacroix and J.M.W. Turner, Realist Gustave Courbet and modernist Edouard Manet, Impressionist Claude Monet and Post Impressionists Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Cezanne. These artists dared to challenge the established art of their times and subsequently influenced art of the 20th century.
