Description
This course will review the fundamentals of risk, risk assessment and risk management. This will include the history of risk concepts, assessment approaches and risk management tools. Case studies will include examples of catastrophic failures in risk assessment and management where human safety is concerned. Risk management tools will be reviewed and students will gain practice by applying assessment and management tools to real world industrial settings. Changing societal attitudes and expectations of risk will also be reviewed.
