This event is the fourth in a series of 6 monthly events, from May through October. Barolo is just a nebbiolo from 7 comuni around the town of Barolo, in the south part of Alba, in Piedmont, that is aged in barrels and then bottled for a minimum of 3 cumulative years. The peculiarity of this wine is the high acidity, strong tannins and the rose bouquet. Thanks to these characteristics, Barolo is a wine that can last for over 50 years, with no problems. It is not as long lasting as some Madeiras or Ports, but for a regular wine, is quite impressive. In this event we will start with a couple of Nebbiolos from different areas of Piedmont, to notice the different characteristics between a wine from the steep slopes of Valtellina and one from the gentle hills of southern Piedmont, to finish in the Barolo region, with a tasting of different vintages and crus, to notice how different the same wine can be in two different vintages, and how wines made in the same exact way, less than a couple of miles apart, in the same vintage can be diametrically opposite. $40 Special Fees will be paid directly to Matteo on Sept 20 (cash, check, Venmo, or Zelle only). Tea and Tarot: Just in time for Halloween, join us for a fun tarot reading with tea refreshments at Kahve Cafe offered by two of our favorite Special Events instructors, Marcie Collett and Elif Ekin. We will meet at Elif's Mediterranean cafe, Kahve Cafe (57 South 600 East), and start with an introduction to tarot reading. Marcie Collett, a tarot reader for 20-some years, will provide a 3-card individual tarot reading which will last approx 5 minutes per person.
