LLCFT 350 - Punch Needle Portrait

Create fiber portraits using punch needle embroidery -- a technique that goes back thousands of years but is seeing a dramatic increase in popularity. You will start by learning the basics of this beautiful and textural art, then create a pattern from a photograph of your choice. After transferring the design onto fabric, you will embroider with a punch needle (hand-made by your instructor!), which will give depth to the face using different stitches and directions. You will leave class with a finished piece of framed art that is ready to hang on your wall.
