Description
The Interventional Radiology Sub-Internship is a 4 week elective in interventional radiology. Students should view this as a surgical subspecialty elective and come prepared to participate on the service in a similar capacity as they would a surgical subspecialty. The rotation is very procedure heavy. Students will participate in procedures ranging from: placement of all venous access lines, percutaneous management of abscesses and fluid collections, pain management, arterial interventions, and venous interventions. The interventional radiology section is heavily involved in cancer treatment and management of oncologic care. Students will be able to observe intra-arterial and ablative therapies for cancer treatment. There are also opportunities to participate in neuro-interventional cases.
