Description
The purpose of this seminar is to explore the concept of neoliberalism and its impact on educational policy and the broader social context of K-12 and higher education. We will examine neoliberalism as it has had a fundamental impact on the political economy, culture, and schools and colleges and other public institutions. the topic areas will include transformations of city economies; the impact of neoliberal policies on schools, colleges, classrooms, teachers, and administrators; transformation of the public and private spheres, and racialized and gendered identities. We will also consider youth/community push-back against neoliberalism.
