Description
This course serves as an intensive exploration of the category known as “speculative fiction” – literary works that construct parallel realities to our own, yet whose themes are not necessarily limited to science fiction’s traditional emphasis on futurity and technology. Genres may include fantasy, horror, utopia, dystopia, apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic fiction, alternate timelines, and the supernatural or superhuman broadly construed. Topics may include ethics, metaphysics, history, religion, politics, race, gender, and sexuality.
