Description
This is the second course in the series on the role of the advanced practice registered nurse. This course continues to provide a structured learning opportunity to explore, understand, and articulate the components of advanced practice registered nurse. Specific role components are explored, including history and development of the advanced practice registered nurse role, the scope of practice, patient outcomes, the role as direct-care provider, change agent, and clinical leadership. Students will have the opportunity to examine their own philosophy of nursing and personal interaction style and explore how to effectively integrate these into their advanced practice roles. This course introduces theoretical, legal, social, ethical, and political contexts for both practice and system roles. Practical skills for effective group membership and leadership functioning in the intra- and inter-disciplinary environment are examined.
