Description
This course provides an introduction and overview to the occupational development of children, working with children and families, and pediatric evaluation in occupational therapy. Students will develop an understanding of the role of occupational therapy in pediatrics and become comfortable with the pediatric evaluation process. Students will be introduced to a range of common pediatric conditions and gain the skills to gather relevant information about conditions that can be applied going forward in additional courses in the pediatric series as well as in practice. Theories related to pediatric practice, as well as policies and ethical standards, will be introduced. Students will develop skills to conduct a comprehensive occupational therapy evaluation, write the report, and craft occupation-centered goals.
