Description
This series begins with a focus on wellness and optimal mental health that occupational therapists seek to promote across all settings. Students will engage in these topics through study, self-analysis, evaluation about how these skills are developed typically, and how to promote with clients. In addition, students will engage in a wellness group lead by the instructor to learn about optimal groups structure, participant skills, and group leadership characteristics. This course covers psychosocial and behavioral dimensions of occupational therapy practice across setting, as well as information related to the specialized practice of occupational therapy in mental health. Additional earning topics include: practice models, impact of specific psychosocial challenges on human performance across the lifespan, and occupational therapy assessment and intervention skills relevant to psychosocial functioning and occupational performance The Occupational Therapy Practice Framework: Domain & Process will be integrated as a way to introduce client-centered and occupation-based practice.
