Description
Using presentations, guest lectures, site visits and readings, this class dives into the history of Salt Lake City by way of the city's "original west side," or the Pioneer Park Neighborhood (North Temple to 6th So. & West Temple to the RR tracks); which is the city's first and oldest international and industrial districts. Although a stand alone class, this is the 3rd and final class, covering 1900 to 1970 and beyond. The Pioneer Park Neighborhood has served as a base camp or distribution hub for just about every immigrant and ethnic group who has settled in SLC, the valley, and even across the Intermountain West, until the 1970s.
