Description
This course will provide a comprehensive overview of federal, state, and local governments' roles in developing and implementing health policies, including: public health, health insurance coverage, health information technologies, and comparison and collaboration with the private sector. Health polices in select foreign countries will be studied to facilitate a basis for international comparisons. Students will also be presented with strategies and skills for effective health leadership, including hearing from individuals who are currently leaders in health policy, or have experience in such positions, and will learn of common characteristics that are considered essential to influence effective health policy.
