Introduction to Statistical Thinking in Anthropology is designed for students with little or no experience with statistics. Making sense of data is vital to a deeper understanding of anthropological phenomenon, and this course introduces the basic tools needed to analyze and interpret datasets with a focus on the process of uncovering patters in data. Examples from anthropology will be used to provide question-motivated applied statistics. Topics include descriptive methods, probability theory, random variable, and statistical models. Students will learn and complete work in the R statistical computing language.
