Description
This class will feature short hikes in several of the local canyons and foothills (exact locations to be announced to registered participants). The pace will be slow, to enable hikers to enjoy the environment of the area and view any wildlife that may be encountered, as well as socialize with other participants. The hikes will involve moderate elevation gains and will be on trails that may have uneven footing. Sturdy walking or hiking shoes are recommended, and trekking poles may be helpful. Bring lunch (or a snack), a warm jacket or sweater, and rain gear. The scheduled hikes are subject to cancellation or rescheduling, based on weather conditions. Durations of hikes will vary based on the particular hike but plan on approximately four hours (including transportation). While the class is primarily an activity class, the required equipment for hiking will be identified and discussed. Individual pacing for efficient hiking will be demonstrated.
