OSHER 553 - Utah Symphony Finishing Touches Preview: Khachaturian's Violin Concerto

Oboist Luca de la Florin will present a half-hour preview of the music in the September Finishing Touches Rehearsal of the Utah Symphony: Kaija Saariaho's Ciel d'Hiver (Winter Sky), Khatchaturian's Violin Concerto, and Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra. The only criticism of the Khatchaturian Violin Concerto is that it might just be "a little too much fun." Osher members will learn about the life and work of the composers, as well as the guest conductor and violinist, and gain insight into the world of the professional symphony orchestra. Option to obtain tickets separately to attend the rehearsal immediately after the preview lecture or attend one of the evening performances.
