Description
Effective health communication campaigns can inform, empower, or persuade individuals and communities to adopt healthier lifestyles. The purpose of this course is to develop knowledge and skills to promote health changes in individuals and communities using health communication and health teaching strategies. This course will explore educational and social marketing principles, based on theories and models in health communication, behavior change, education, and social learning. Content will include applying theories to develop community-based health communication campaigns and teaching interventions to reach people in a variety of settings outside of traditional health care settings, such as communities, worksites, and schools. Other content includes mass media and electronic messaging in health communication and education, implementation strategies, and evaluating health communication and teaching interventions.
