Description
This course presents both an overview of the applications of molten salts in various metallurgical/energy conversion processes and a series of lectures on fundamental engineering aspects of molten salts. Each week will consist of one seminar-style class and one lecture-style class. This is aimed at both motivating an interest in molten salts and instructing the students how to analyze processes and solve problems based on thermodynamics, kinetics, and transport phenomena. Experimental methods will be explained with some demonstrations performed in the laboratory.
