Description
Qualitative and mixed-method research often depends on interviews or focus group data. This course deepens the student’s understanding of interviewing principles and methods in the following areas: alignment of research methodology with methods to assure ethical inquiry; application of qualitative interviewing best practices in the design and conduct of individual and focus group interviews; and adaptation, innovation, and critique of interview and focus group procedures and products. After completing the course, students will be prepared to design, apply, and critique research interview and focus group methods. Students familiar with qualitative research principles are well-prepared to enroll in this advanced course on interviewing as a qualitative research method.
