Description
The second course in the OT Process - Psychosocial class series will continue to expose students to relevant practice models and interventions that focus on compensatory and remediation approaches and will grow in the complexity of interventions, cases, and relevant knowledge to specific mental health conditions and settings. In addition, the course will provide opportunities to take the role of group co-leader including designing and implementing occupation-based groups with various populations. This course covers psychosocial and behavioral dimensions of occupational therapy practice across settings, as well as information related to the specialized practice of occupational therapy in mental health. Learning topics include practice models, the impact of specific psychosocial challenges on human performance across the lifespan, and occupational therapy assessment and intervention skills relevant to psychosocial functioning and occupational performance. The Occupational Therapy Practice Framework: Domain & Process will be integrated as a way to introduce the client-centered and occupation-based practice.
