Description
Mindfulness refers to the practice of trying to pay attention to the present moment without criticism or judgment. This course applies mindfulness to the personal, interpersonal, and institutional aspects of one's professional identity as a lawyer. Includes issues such as stress; developing a mindful approach to the practice of law; vicarious trauma and empathy fatigue; conflict management; lawyer-client relations; implicit bias; fostering wellbeing in legal education and the practice of law; and new developments in the profession such as holistic and collaborative lawyering, restorative justice, and therapeutic jurisprudence. Requires daily mindfulness exercises. Credit is ungraded (pass/fail).
