Description
This course provides a graduate-level introduction to the central components and challenges of the U.S. health care system and the field of health services research (HSR). Students will be introduced to common conceptual frameworks and seminal research in HSR, a field interested in evaluating health care organization, delivery, and financing. This course emphasizes student engagement with the scholarly literature to understand the theoretical basis for evaluating the U.S. health system. This course also emphasizes the process of framing an HSR question, conceptualizing an HSR study, and appraising scholarly HSR articles. Topics include access to care, quality of care, cost of care, and more.
