Description
This graduate comprehensive architectural design studio explores architectural problems related to urban densification and building performance, building typologies, diverse user groups, adaptive building reuse, and many aspects of building technology as an integral part of the design process. The studio requires the integration of building envelope and environmental control systems, structural and life safety systems, materials and components, quantitative energy performance and natural daylighting. Simultaneously, site development, the properties and aesthetics of materials, and construction are equally important considerations, particularly with regard to how they continue to inform and/or influence design decisions. Students need to concurrently enroll in ARCH 6613.
