Description
This course is intended to provide an introduction to computer programming, using the Python language and highlighting applications in biology. The course is intended primarily for first year graduate students in the School of Biological Sciences, but others are welcome. No prior programming experience is required. In addition to an introduction to the Python language, the course includes a bit of history, a general overview of modern computing and the use of Unix-type operating systems (including MacOS and Linux). The course structure will include lectures, in-class computing exercises, homework exercises and a project to completed during the last three weeks of the term.
