Description
This course covers the foundations of finance with a focus on allowing non-finance students to be prepared for the Securities Industry Essentials Exam. From FINRA, “The Securities Industry Essentials® (SIE®) Exam is a FINRA exam for prospective securities industry professionals. This introductory-level exam assesses a candidate’s knowledge of basic securities industry information including concepts fundamental to working in the industry, such as types of products and their risks; the structure of the securities industry markets, regulatory agencies and their functions; and prohibited practices. By the end of the semester, students will demonstrate knowledge of basic finance concepts and will be prepared for the SIE Exam. Topics include: equity, debt, options, trading markets, packaged products, customer accounts, retirement plans, and regulations.
