Prerequisite: A survey course in Immunology (such as PATH 5030) and some exposure to Biochemistry, Cell Biology, and Genetics.
Description
This is a survey course covering the basic principles of immunology. Students should have some exposure to biochemistry, modern genetics, and cell biology. It is designed for graduate students needing a survey course in immunology with a research emphasis. The course will meet three days per week with lectures on most days. This class will meet jointly with PATH 5030 for the lectures. Students will meet every other Friday with a faculty member to discuss current research papers in selected areas. Students will be required to prepare a research proposal. The final third of the course will feature clinical and experimental topics in immunology with lectures provided by faculty directly involved in the particular area.
