Description
Personalized instruction in the practice of general internal medicine with emphasis on outpatient practice. This elective complements the student's experience in ward medicine by concentrating on the approach to the practice of ambulatory general internal medicine. In addition, in-hosptial consultations are seen and patient rounds are made with indvidual members of the staff. Emphasis is placed on long-term continuity of care, preventive services, and modification of harmful risk factors. Students also evaluate new patients with undeclared and obscure problems. Students receive faculty feedback on their interviewing and physical diagnosis skills.
