Description
Forum to discuss problems/issues related to occupational/environmental health and safety. Focuses on legislation, regulations, standards impacting the worker in the work setting, and populations at risk in the environment. Overview of assessment, evaluation, control, and anticipation of occupational/environmental hazards; health/promotion/health surveillance; and selected occupation- and environment-related diseases explored. Other topics include safety/ergonomics and legal/ethical issues. Field trip provides opportunity to observe workers in a variety of manufacturing processes in industry. Opportunities provided to identify potential hazards and evaluation of how hazards are being controlled, and interaction with management about health promotion/surveillance programs.
