Description
Basic aspects of image acquisition and processing on computers. It will discuss various methods for getting images into and out of the computer. The course will also cover basic aspects of microscopy, including light, fluorescence and confocal microscopy, as well as scanning and transmission electron microscopy. Topics will include computer image formats and processing, and using imaging processing applications such as NIH Image and Adobe Photoshop. Also covered will be basic image analysis, generation and editing of digital movies and 3D reconstruction of serial sections.
