Description
Designed to explore basic concepts of the natural habitats of microorganisms, their replication, the nature of interactions they have with human hosts including the pathophysiology of infections they cause, and concepts in laboratory diagnosis of infections in the context of the clinical manifestations of these infections. Introductory concepts of treatment as they relate to the basic understanding of the microorganisms will also be introduced. The student should complete this course with an introductory understanding of microorganisms and the diagnosis and clinical manifestations of infectious diseases.
