Description
This advanced course focuses on the art and craft of film directing specifically related to the narrative motion picture. Story structure associated with directorial decision-making will be examined first. Script preparation topics such as classical structure, character development, and scene writing will be covered. Topics will also include pre-production such as team management, budgeting, and casting. The course will explore the methods for directing actors within a scene using a single camera technique. Topics such as staging actors, camera blocking, and camera movement will be covered. Students will be teamed with a cinematographer/editor from the Videography class (FILM 5490) and write and produce a short sync-sound narrative scene.
